Fundamentals for AKC Rally / Obedience I
This ongoing class is designed to provide the handler with the skills needed to successfully pass AKC Beginner Novice, Novice and all levels of Rally in a competition situation. This class will provide training in advanced heeling required for showing in obedience/rally competition (focused heeling). Sits, Downs and Stands are an important part of both Rally and Obedience and this class will show the student how to teach the dog to respond with a single command in a trial environment. Attention/ Distraction training is stressed in this class. Clicker training is recommended but is not required.
Fundamentals for AKC Rally / Obedience 2
This is an ongoing class for those students that wish to strengthen their on-lead heeling and/or learn how to train their dog for AKC Open and Utility classes. The class will focus on retrieving, jumps, long sits and downs, stand for exams, signals and scent articles. Distraction training for all exercises will be stressed in this class. Each class is tailored to the student’s level of training.
Rally Drop In Class
This is a problem solving class for all levels of Rally. Just come to class and let the instructor know what you need help with and they will provide instruction on working through that problem. Heeling, jumping, sits downs –it does not matter what the problem is. The instructor will work with you to get you on the path to a perfect 100 points in Rally
WHAT IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND?
DHLPP and Rabies vaccine prior to starting class. We highly recommend the Bordetella vaccine. You will not be admitted the first day or night of class without proof of vaccinations.
**Prerequisite: The Handler should have completed a Basic Obedience class prior to taking these classes.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
1. Small, soft food treats as rewards.
2. Proof of DHLPP and Rabies vaccine (Note: The expiration date of vaccines is usually at the bottom of your last veterinarian receipt)
3. Collar - please no prong, choke, or shock collars.
4. Leash - 4 to 6 foot nylon or leather. Please NO retractable (Flexi) leashes.
5. Class Fee - we accept CASH or CHECKS only.
6. YOU MUST have closed-toe comfortable shoes.
