Class Registration/Schedule Our current class schedule and class registration process.
 

Did you get a new puppy,  a new adolescent dog or mature dog?  Then the following classes are where you would like to start!

Puppy Kindergarten
Puppy Kindergarten
For puppies 8-18 weeks old. This class provides socialization, positive lure/reward training to teach canine good manners. Get solutions for barking, chewing and house soiling. Upon completion of this class, your puppy will be ready for the STAR Puppy or Basic Obedience Class.

S.T.A.R. Puppy
S.T.A.R. Puppy
This class helps you prepare your pup for life in a human world. The two of you will learn how to use positive training methods to teach basic commands such as sit, down, stay as well learning to come when called and the beginnings of leash walking. You will also get to work with a CGC evaluator who can answer all your puppy raising questions about housebreaking, jumping up, chewing and any other common puppy behaviors you would like to address.

Basic Obedience
Basic Obedience
For the new dog and/or the new owner teaching the basics of well-mannered dogs. This is a seven-week class with hands-on training sessions with the dog. This class uses positive lure/reward training, as do all our classes.  Not all dogs are ready to graduate after just 7 weeks. Most dogs should take this course 2 times. Each dog is an individual and learns at their own rate.

C.G.C - Canine Good Citizen
C.G.C - Canine Good Citizen
You will learn all about making your dog a well behaved dog in everyday situations. This class will focus on the 10 test items that make up the CGC test. Each of the test items represent everyday encounters that you might encounter while out walking your dog or at a vet’s office.

Trick and Treat
This class is focused on teaching your dog clicker training and a way to make training fun. Tricks are a way for your dog to engage people during Therapy Dog visits, Canine Ambassador Presentations, or just for family fun.
This is a wonderful opportunity to hone your timing in training before advancing to the next level of classes.

Walk This Way
Walk This Way
This class will focus on improving heeling and attention skills, working as a team, and how to use treats as a tool rather than a crutch. Changes of pace, spins, twirls, touches, and other fun skills will be learned to use as rewards. This class will be fast paced so bring lots of treats, a favorite toy, and be sure to wear closed toe shoes.

Build Better Behaviors
Build Better Behaviors
Have you completed a STAR Puppy, Puppy 2 or Basic class but still have some trouble spots to work on? Whether you want to build a better SIT or proof your STAY or work on jumping and barking behaviors, this 4 week session will address those training trouble spots! You're just 4 weeks away from enhancing your relationship with your dog, developing your training skills and timing, and establish the building blocks to a better behaved dog!

Graduate Game Night
Graduate Game Night
This FREE class is a one night event each session for dogs and handlers that have graduated from one of our other classes.  This event will be a fun filled evening and  a party atmosphere with music, games & activities just for you and your dog.  Prizes will be awarded to our top game winners along with multiple opportunities to proof your dog's training while having a good time!

Fundamentals for AKC Rally / Obedience
Fundamentals for AKC Rally / Obedience
This ongoing class is designed to provide the handler with the skills needed to successfully pass AKC Beginner Novice, Novice and all levels of Rally in a competition situation. This class will provide training in advanced heeling required for showing in obedience/rally completion (focused heeling).  Sits, Downs and Stands are an important part of both Rally and Obedience and this class will show the student how to teach the dog to respond with a single command in a trial environment. Attention/ Distraction training is stressed in this class.

Rally
For the handler who wants to continue with the basics of training. The dog and handler work as a team to complete a course set up by the instructor. The handler can encourage and talk to the dog through the entire course. The course consists of signs instructing the handler on what to do next. The team moves continuously at a brisk pace with the dog under control on the left hand side of the handler.  This is a fun way to continue training and building a relationship with your dog.  You can compete and title your dog in Rally and it's a lot of fun!

Agility
Agility is a fast-paced, fun sport that you and your dog can participate in together. It is truly a bonding experience for you and your dog, as you are working as a team.  Our classes will introduce you a variety of special skills used on the courses, body positioning, motion and introduction to all of the obstacles used by AKC and CPE in agility competition.

Drills and Skills
Drills and Skills
Drills and Skills is a 4 week session that will allow students the opportunity to fine tune some of their obedience skills. We will work on straight fronts, fast recalls, group stays and focused heeling.  All of these skills will be worked on using fun and play as a way to motivate and work a dog in drive.

Nosework for Fun

We will introduce the dog to the sport of nose work by teaching the dog to use their nose to search for hidden treats among a set course of obstacles. No official scents will be used in this class--it is for fun only not intended for competition.

Introduction to Scent Work
Introduction to Scent Work
Intro Class to Scent Work Goals: This class will give students an introduction to Scent Work. The goal is to learn the basic elements of AKC Scent Work, using the essential oil Birch. This is a beginner class and we will work on container, interior and exterior.

Competition Training for Rally, Novice, & Open
Competition Training for Rally, Novice, & Open

This class is for people working primarily on Rally, Novice Obedience and Open Obedience .   We will often have people working on jumps in one area and retrieves in another.  Just let the moderator know what you need to work on and we will help you to fine tune this skill.    Often handlers training in Utility will be found off to the side working on Articles and such using the distractions of the other dogs to help train their dog.

This class is reserved for  utility dogs as a full ring is needed for several of the exercises    After the handlers have their utility training done (and time permitting) then we start with  run throughs in Novice-Utility  for those interested.
