Learn how to do weaves using the 2x2 method.
This method is especially useful for beginners (no previous weave experience required, and is preferred!), and for those looking to improve their dog's ability to independently find weave entries. This is a workshop to teach the handler the fundamentals of how to work weaves with their dog beyond this workshop.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- How to break down teaching your dog to weave
- How to overcome onside/offside preference
- How to troubleshoot common weave issues like popping weaves early and missing entries
- How to develop drive for/speed through the weaves
In order to participate in this workshop you and/or your dog must meet all of the following prerequisites:
- Must be able to work with dog off leash: dog stays with human, does not run off/has good recall
- Must be open to teacher instruction: you may feel you/your dog are already capable of doing "good weaves" but this is a back-to-basics workshop, so if you are not interested in starting from the beginning, this is not the class for you
- Dogs younger than 1 year in age require pre-approval: weaving isn't a natural movement and can be tough on young bodies, younger dogs can participate (if they can work off leash), but we will have to be careful about how much weaving we have them do.
- No aggressive/reactive dogs - no exceptions: multiple dogs will be off leash at one time, so all dogs MUST be safe at all times during the workshop.
- Dogs must be crated when not actively being worked 6 working slots available, unlimited audit spots
You must preregister for this Workshop.
