This is a DROP-IN class for those wish to compete in Obedience at the Novice or Open levels up through Utility. Exercises will be customized to the level of the participants.
A chance to practice your competitive obedience, preparing the handler and the dog to show in the ring. Exercises will set up for run-thrus.
For teams who have completed the Agility FUNdamentals and Agility 1 classes. Content will include learning how to navigate the agility obstacles (incl weave poles and contact equipment), short sequencing with emphasis on building relationship skills, and handling techniques.
For teams who have graduated from the Agility 1 class. Content will include sequencing with emphasis on handling techniques and solidifying weave pole and contact equipment performance.
Teaches the students how to execute the Rally signs used in the Excellent and Master level of competition. At this level of training the signs must be executed with the dog off-leash and will include 2 jumps.
BKC rental to hold conformation classes.
Instruction and registration will be handled by BKC directly. Contact them through Messenger on the BKC Facebook page or call Susan Thibideaux, the conformation training instructor, at 904-616-0153.
This class will focus on teaching your dog tricks that are fun and useful in general life. Trick training is a fantastic way hone your training skills and bond with your dog.
Teaching the basics of a well-mannered dog. Using positive lure/reward training, you will learn loose leash walking, sit/down/stand cued positions, stay and leave-it.
This class is for those dogs who are new to scent work, and will cover the basic principles of Scent Detection necessary for the dog and handler team to be successful. The class will introduce skills such as odor preparation, search drive, odor obedience, and indication. The primary focus of this class is to establish odor recognition, clear indication, and search behavior. The skills learned in this class will help create a strong foundation to build upon. Bring lots of treats or a favorite toy. Dogs not working are required to be crated and quiet.
This class is for those students who have completed the Intermediate Scent Class or with Instructor approval. Dogs will continue to work on increasing the search area, the number of hides, and adding elevation.
Fun exercises designed to enhance understanding and develop confident performance of simplified obstacles and the spaces in between.

This is a 7-week class for puppies just beginning their learning adventures (13 weeks to 7 months old)
Teaching the handlers how to train basic obedience. Turn training into a fun and bonding experience with your dog. A lot of our training is at home and what better way than to use activities between you and your dog. Learn the basic obedience commands - sit, down, stand, come, and walk on a loose leash using short games you can do in your house or yard. Learn some tricks, some Novice Rally signs that you can use to maneuver, and introduce your dog to various surfaces and obstacles that may help them in future sports. This class is for children 8 – 17 who can handle the dog by themselves while a parent or legal guardian attends to watch.
An introduction to competitive obedience, preparing the handler and the dog to show in the ring. Exercises will primarily be completed on lead.
This class is for students who have completed Introduction To Scent Work or by Instructor approval, and are ready to apply those skills to learning the basic exercises of element searching. Dogs must understand odor recognition and indication, and have established basic fluency in searching. They will be introduced to the search elements in Scent Work - interiors, exteriors, buried, containers, and vehicles and handler discrimination.
Courses will be set up each week for students to practice the different signs. The instructors will work with the students on each sign‘s performance for AKC trials.
This is a 7-week class for puppies just beginning their learning adventures (13 weeks to 7 months old)
Introduces the handler and dog to the basics of Rally and how to properly perform any of the 31 novice signs. AKC Novice courses will be set up for students to practice the different signs. The instructors will work with the students to be sure they understand each sign and what is expected of them. It‘s great for students that want to get their AKC Rally Novice Title or for students that just want to work with their dogs. At the Novice level, exercises are performed on-leash.
